LSU’s defense has looked unbeatable. Alabama is no slouch. Neither is Arkansas. Those two square off in Tuscaloosa this weekend. And don’t forget about South Carolina. Although they’ve been somewhat uninspiring, they look like the class of the East. If they can get through the regular season with just one loss, anything can happen in the SEC championship game. The Gamecocks have the coach, skilled position players, and defensive line to beat anyone.

The opening lines for the week have been posted. The sharps at Maddux have been killing the spreads – don’t miss out on a big payday.

Ohio State (-14 ½) vs. Colorado – Ohio State welcomes Colorado to the Horseshoe in a Big 10/Pac 12 matchup. The Buckeyes opened as 15 ½ point favorites, but that’s been bought down to 14 ½. Ohio State has to be searching for answers at quarterback after Saturday’s debacle in Miami. They’ll face a less talented team in Colorado, but the Buckeyes can’t overlook the Buffs. CU should have more confidence this week after getting their first win of the season, beating in-state rival, Colorado State.

Miami (-13) vs. Kansas State – The Hurricanes and Wildcats are another intriguing nonconference battle. Miami opened as 13 point favorites, and the line has held steady so far. The ‘Canes have to be pleased with their win over Ohio State, although Jacory Harris has to stop throwing so many interceptions. K-State throttled Kent State at home this past week, but Bill Snyder will have to work some magic to come out of South Beach with a win.

Maryland (-9) vs. Temple – Maryland should get a game from Temple this week. The Terps opened as 10 point favorites, but that’s come down to 9. Both teams are coming off narrow losses. Maryland mounted a furious comeback against West Virginia, but was done in by a late interception. The Owls gave Penn State all they wanted and more, but couldn’t keep the Nittany Lions out of the end zone when they needed to.

Alabama (-11 ½) vs. Arkansas – The best game of the week is an SEC West battle. The Crimson Tide opened as 14 point favorites against the Razorbacks, but that has already come down to 11 ½ at most sites. ‘Bama rolled over North Texas, while the Hogs started fast against Troy and held on to win by 10. These are two of the best teams in the country, and this should be a great game.

LSU (-5) at West Virginia – The best nonconference game of the week goes down in Morgantown. LSU started as 6 point road favorites, but that’s been bet down to 5. The Tigers have looked incredible on defense, and the offense has been good enough. The Mountaineers pass happy offense against the Tigers impenetrable defense should be fun to watch.

Texas A&M (-3) vs. Oklahoma State – If not for ‘Bama/Arkansas, this would be the game of the week. The Aggies opened at -3 and that’s where the line currently sits. In my opinion, both teams are very good and should challenge Oklahoma for the Big 12 crown. Last year was a wild game in Stillwater, and all signs point to this being another battle.

Notre Dame (-6.5) at Pittsburgh – The Irish opened as 5 ½ point road favorites against Pitt, but that has gone up to 6.5 at most books. Notre Dame got a much needed, feel good win against Michigan State. Pittsburgh, on the other hand, had a crushing collapse at Iowa. They have to avoid a hangover or they’ll get run out of their own stadium.

As we head into week 4 of the college football season, I think it’s safe to say the SEC is again the best conference in the country.
