class="wp-caption-text">All eyes will be on New York Jets WR Plaxico Burress Saturday

The New York Jets are coming off an impressive 27-7 home win over the Cincinnati Bengals as 6.5-point favorites last week and will now play the team it shares calling MetLife Stadium home. The two franchises will be meeting for the 43rd time during preseason action and the Jets hold a 22-19-1 series advantage. In last year’s meeting, the Jets were handed a 31-16 loss on Aug. 16. It’s still important to note that the squad has won three of the last four exhibition meetings and all three wins came by eight points or less. The Jets are 25-12 ATS when meeting up with NFC East division members during the preseason.

The Jets have enjoyed great success during the preseason since posting a losing record in 1996, posting a streak of 14 consecutive non-losing seasons. New York is still just 5-5 over the last two-plus years of playing games before the regular season. Many believe that the team will look to jumpstart its running game in Week 3, which is justified due to gaining just 16 rushing yards on 11 carries when the starters played last week. Most of the attention around the team has been centered around the return of wide receiver Plaxico Burress, as he’ll be facing his former team for the first time since serving a two-year prison term.

The New York Giants came away with a visually-impressive 41-13 win on the scoreboard over the Chicago Bears last Monday night, but professional handicappers are quick to point out that the team has been out-gained in both preseason games. The Giants are coming off a disappointing 10-6 season due to not making the playoffs despite ranking in the top 10 in all four major categories. It’s also an important week in preparation for both teams facing each other in Week 16 during the regular season. The Giants are 7-18 ATS when facing AFC East division opponents during exhibition play.

There’s been plenty of talk around the city heading into this contest and Giants defensive end Justin Tuck fired off the first blast by stating, “the new Meadowlands stadium still feels like Giants Stadium.” New York’s defense will be aiming to get after Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez after coming away with just a single sack against the Bears last week. It was a disappointing result and many attribute it to the loss of Pro Bowl DE Osi Umenyiora, who is expected to be out at least three more weeks.

Bettors will likely back the Giants due to the significant line change that has taken place in this contest, moving them from three-point favorites to underdogs by 2.5 points at some places.

Don’t even think about betting this season until you sign up with the NFL handicappers at Maddux Sports. Get a long-term deal
