{"id":14634,"date":"2011-04-02T23:56:55","date_gmt":"2011-04-03T04:56:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.madduxsports.com\/blog\/?p=14634"},"modified":"2011-04-03T23:33:29","modified_gmt":"2011-04-04T04:33:29","slug":"nba-tv-betting-can-spurs-end-six-game-skid-against-suns","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.madduxsports.com\/blog\/nba-tv-betting-can-spurs-end-six-game-skid-against-suns-14634\/","title":{"rendered":"NBA TV Betting: Can Spurs end six-game skid against Suns?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Phoenix Suns at San Antonio Spurs, AT&amp;T Center,\u00a0 San Antonio, TX<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Sunday, April 3, 2011, 1:00 pm Eastern, TV:\u00a0 ABC<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Opening Line: Spurs -10<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Current: Spurs -11<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Opening Total: 211 <\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Current Total: 209<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Money Line: Spurs -800 \/ Suns +600<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_9304\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9304\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-9304\" src=\"https:\/\/www.madduxsports.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/steve-nash-suns-2-300x168.jpg\" alt=\"Spurs Suns NBA Game Preview\" width=\"300\" height=\"168\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.madduxsports.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/steve-nash-suns-2-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.madduxsports.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/10\/steve-nash-suns-2.jpg 495w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-9304\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Phoenix point guard Steve Nash has been battling flu-like symptoms and missed Friday&#039;s game.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The San Antonio Spurs (57-19) will look to snap their season-high six-game losing streak on Sunday when they host the Phoenix Suns (37-38) during what has become a critical stretch of the regular season.\u00a0 The Spurs (-11) still own the top record in the NBA by one game over the Chicago Bulls along with the best mark in the Western Conference by 1.5 over the Los Angeles Lakers.\u00a0\u00a0 But both the Bulls and Lakers have made up serious ground during San Antonio\u2019s skid.<\/p>\n<p>The Spurs had not lost more than four games in a row over the course of Tim Duncan\u2019s career and looked like they would run away with the top seed in the West.\u00a0\u00a0 Duncan sat out the first game of the losing streak with a sprained ankle that looked like it could keep him out the rest of the regular season.\u00a0 He returned early though and has played the last two games, averaging 21.5 points and 13 rebounds in losses to Boston and Houston.<\/p>\n<p>Injuries to Manu Ginobili (quad) and Tony Parker (knee) have also contributed to the losing streak, but like Duncan their quick return to the court might be making it worse.\u00a0 San   Antonio has played very poor defensively during the skid, allowing opponents to shoot 50.3 percent from the field and average 108.3 points, which is more than 10 points higher than the team\u2019s season average.\u00a0 The OVER has cashed in all of those games.\u00a0 The age of the Spurs might simply be catching up to them, similar to the Celtics, who have struggled down the stretch as well.<\/p>\n<p>The Suns start a five-game road trip in San   Antonio and will try to avoid getting swept in the season series after losing the first two games by a combined 10 points.\u00a0 They have dropped five of six on the road and had lost four straight overall before beating the Los Angeles Clippers 111-98 at home on Friday.\u00a0 Phoenix point guard Steve Nash missed that game due to flu-like symptoms and was replaced by Aaron Brooks, who scored 12 points and dished out six assists.<\/p>\n<p>Nash\u2019s status remains up in the air, and Brooks has not fared well against the Spurs during his career.\u00a0 Brooks scored just seven points on 3 of 12 shooting in the last game vs. San Antonio and has averaged 14.8 points on 41.3 percent shooting over 11 career meetings.<\/p>\n<p>Regardless of who plays, bettors can expect a high-scoring game between the teams.\u00a0 The OVER is 8-1 in the last nine meetings with the winner totaling at least 110 points in eight of them.<\/p>\n<p>Our NBA basketball handicappers are red hot as the regular season enters the final stretch.
