Ten things I think about today:<\/p>\n
1. Woo-freaking-hoo! It had been 11 years since my beloved Michigan won a game, so I had forgotten how good winning feels. It wasn’t always pretty, and it was too tense at the end, but the important thing is that we ended up with more points than Clemson. Look out Oklahoma, we’re coming for you!<\/p>\n
2. Turns out that the neither the absence of Ty Lawson nor Jim Calhoun was even remotely relevant against a 16 seed. Both UNC and UConn were absolutely dominant in easy wins. If you want to look for a point of concern for the Tar Heels, though, Radford had three guys with double digit rebounds.<\/p>\n
3. Memphis looked really, really lousy for 35 minutes or so. Given the way they played in the last five, though, I’m not that worried about them as my final four pick. If they sleep through another opponent, though, then things could get bleak.<\/p>\n
4. Gonzaga obviously watched the Memphis game and thought that the style of play looked fun. Villanova, too.<\/p>\n
5. I was extremely impressed by Maryland. They didn’t look anything but dominant at any point in that game. Now, can they sustain it?<\/p>\n
6. Washington looked really good, and they did it despite a rough performance from Thomas. If the freshman point guard can have a better game then they could have a field day against Purdue. I wasn’t as impressed by the Boilermakers today as I was hoping I would be.<\/p>\n
7. Butler threw that game away. LSU did not play well enough to win as easily as they did.<\/p>\n
8. If BYU keeps drawing Texas A&M in the first round then they may never win a tournament game again.<\/p>\n
9. I still struggle to believe in Texas (or the Big 12 in general, for that matter), but they looked impressive today.<\/p>\n
