{"id":11567,"date":"2010-12-16T12:42:18","date_gmt":"2010-12-16T17:42:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.madduxsports.com\/blog\/?p=11567"},"modified":"2010-12-16T12:42:18","modified_gmt":"2010-12-16T17:42:18","slug":"humanitarian-bowl-fresno-state-vs-northern-illinois-college-football-predictions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.madduxsports.com\/blog\/humanitarian-bowl-fresno-state-vs-northern-illinois-college-football-predictions-11567\/","title":{"rendered":"Humanitarian Bowl:  Fresno State vs Northern Illinois College Football Predictions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Fresno State Bulldogs vs Northern Illinois Huskies<br \/>\nSaturday, 12\/18\/10, 5:30 PM EDT, TV:\u00a0 ESPN<br \/>\nOpening Point Spread:\u00a0 Northern Illinois -3<br \/>\nCurrent Betting Line:\u00a0 Northern Illinois -1.5<br \/>\nOpening Total:\u00a0 60<br \/>\nCurrent Total:\u00a0 59<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4668\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4668\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.madduxsports.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/ncaa-football-logo-72.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-4668\" src=\"https:\/\/www.madduxsports.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/ncaa-football-logo-72-300x168.jpg\" alt=\"College Football Betting\" width=\"300\" height=\"168\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.madduxsports.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/ncaa-football-logo-72-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.madduxsports.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/ncaa-football-logo-72.jpg 495w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4668\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Fresno State and Northern Illinois meet in the Humanitarian Bowl in Boise, Idaho on Saturday<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Fresno State makes its 11th bowl appearance in the last 12 seasons and its third trip to Boise, Idaho for a bowl game.\u00a0 The Bulldogs are actually one of 18 programs in the nation to make 11 bowl appearances since 1999.\u00a0 \u201cBoise is a great football town with great fan support, not only for their hometown Broncos but for college football in general,\u201d head coach Pat Hill stated.\u00a0 \u201cOur two previous trips were special and memorable for our team and we had two historic wins for our program.\u201d\u00a0 The program has actually lost its last two preseason games, but comes in on a two-game winning streak, with wins over Idaho and Illinois.\u00a0 Fresno State is 5-6 ATS on the season and is currently a slight underdog on the college football lines page.<\/p>\n<p>The Bulldogs will be taking on a MAC opponent for the first time since 2008 when they earned a 55-54 double overtime win at Toledo.\u00a0 Fresno State is 11-4 all-time against MAC competition.\u00a0 This will be the program\u2019s 23rd bowl appearance and it currently has an 11-11 all-time record.\u00a0 Quarterback Ryan Colburn will be a key player in the team\u2019s effort of moving over the .500 mark in bowl games, as he had 21 touchdowns and nine interceptions in the regular season.\u00a0 It\u2019s important to note that the two-year starter struggled in the squad\u2019s losses this season, especially in throwing two interceptions at Boise State and three against Hawaii.<\/p>\n<p>Northern Illinois is coming into this contest off its first 10-win regular season since 2003 and is only the fourth Huskie team ever to reach that mark.\u00a0 The Huskies will be playing in their third consecutive bowl game, but will not have coach Jerry Kill on the sidelines after he accepted the head coaching job at Minnesota.\u00a0 \u201cIt\u2019s still a feeling that I can\u2019t really comprehend right now,\u201d said quarterback Chandler Harnish.\u00a0 \u201cDisappointment.
