primetime

Nebraska heads out on the road for the final time in 2010 and is set to take on the Texas A&M Aggies at College Station. The Cornhuskers have come from behind in the fourth quarter to win their last two trips to Kyle Field, even though this is their first visit since 2006. The program holds a 10-3 edge in the all-time series between the two schools, including a 2-1 mark at tonight’s venue. Nebraska comes off a defensive gem in its last contest, holding the Kansas Jayhawks to 87 total yards in a 20-3 win last Saturday. “I’ve never been involved in anything close to that,” said defensive coordinator Carl Pelini. “These days in college football, teams are hanging up 700 yards. So to hold a team to 200 or 300 is considered a good defensive game.” The team is 4-1 ATS as a road favorite and the college football lines page has them laying less than a field goal currently.

The Cornhuskers offense ranks first in the Big 12 and seventh nationally in rushing, averaging 282.3 yards per game. Nebraska has rushed for at least 200 yards in nine of 10 games this season. The running game will face a stiff test against an Aggies’ defense that is leading the Big 12 and ranks 13th nationally in stopping the run, giving up just 112.2 yards per game. Defensively, the team’s focus has to be dead-set on stopping the Texas A&M passing attack, which ranks eighth-best in college football at 308.1 yards per game. Nebraska’s secondary allows just 140.2 yards per game through the air.

Texas A&M has a 7-3 overall record and 4-2 mark in conference play, currently tied for second with Oklahoma in the South division. The Aggies have won four consecutive games and underwent a quarterback change, as Ryan Tannehill has been brilliant under center. The team has averaged 488.3 yards per game over that span, a stretch that has seen Tannehill throw 10 touchdown passes. Texas A&M is now set to host the most anticipated game in years around College Station and head coach Mike Sherman is excited. “Games like this make it special when you are competing for something and the school gets excited,” he stated. “I went over last night on the way home and talked to some of the kids with their tents and the enthusiasm makes you so anxious to play well.” The team is 4-0 ATS in its last four conference games.

The Aggies will be seeking their second victory over a top 10 foe at Kyle Field this season, already garnering a victory over the Oklahoma Sooners earlier in the year. Texas A&M has also won multiple wins in the month of November for the first time since 1999 and have assured themselves of their first winning season since 2007. Expect an incredible atmosphere in this contest, as the school has set a goal of having 30,000 students be in attendance tonight, while also setting an attendance record with an estimated 89,000 fans.

Bettors will find that the Cornhuskers are 0-4 ATS in their last four games in November, while the Aggies are 0-4-1 ATS as a home underdog of 0.5 to 3 points.

The college football handicappers at Maddux Sports have a 20-unit Game of the Year going this Saturday. Don’t miss out!

Nebraska Cornhuskers at Texas A&M Aggies Saturday, 11/20/10, 8:00 PM EDT Opening Point
