South Korea gave Uruguay a tough fight, but the South Americans prevailed in the end. Luis Suarez continued his great run at the World Cup and scored twice to give Uruguay the win. He scored an amazing goal in the 80th minute to put the Uruguayan side up 2-1. Uruguay’s strong defense gave up its first goal, but prevented any further damage.

Switzerland shocked the soccer world and beat Spain 1-0 with a great defensive effort Wednes-day. The Spaniards seemed to try to play a little too cute, always going for the extra pass instead of looking for the shot. South Africa surprised in the World Cup opening match and drew with Mexico. They kept the unbeaten streak of host-teams in openers alive, almost beating El Tri. South Africa had a great chance to win the match in the final minute, but Katlego Mphela’s shot bounced off the near post.

Group B has a clear-cut favorite in Argentina and a heavy favorite to come in second in Nigeria. Argentina has arguably the best player in the world at this time in Lionel Messi. The 5-foot-7 forward has excelled in club play with Barcelona, scoring 34 goals in 30 games in league competition. Messi will be called upon to carry the team, and he should be able to deliver.
