Georgetown - Boston College Preview

Boston College Eagles (7) Vs. Georgetown Hoyas (2)
Saturday, 3/17 @ 5:45
Betting Line From Bookmaker: Georgetown -8.5

In round one, the Boston College Eagles vanquished the Texas Tech Red Raiders 84- 75 by shooting 53% from the field, hitting 80% from the penalty stripe and playing great defense that included 9 blocked shots. Also in the first round, The Georgetown Hoyas easily handled the Belmont Bruins 80- 55 as they hit 55% of their shots and 75% from the free throw line. They shot 44% from downtown and notched 9 steals and 4 blocked shots.

At the end of the first-half, the Eagles led by only two points 41- 39. In the second-half, they turned it on as senior guard Sean Marshall scored 15 of his 21 points. Marshall also had 7 rebounds, 2 blocked shots and 1 steal. He was 3 for 6 from the three-point mark. Sophomore guard Tyrese Rice was perfect from the penalty stripe, going 8 for 8. Rice scored a total of 26 points while grabbing 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Senior forward Jared Dudley and junior forward John Oats also came to play, scoring 19 and 11 points each.

The Hoyas got production from almost everyone on the team. Sophomore guard Jessie Sapp hit for 20 points, while junior center Roy Hibbert scored a double-double with 13 rebounds and 10 points. Sapp completed 3 steals and Hibbert knocked away 3 shots. Junior forward Jeff Green put in 15, while freshman forward Vernon Macklin came off the bench for 8 points and 4 rebounds. Freshman guard Jeremiah Rivers led the club with 7 assists.

Here’s the skinny—BC under coach Al Skinner is 0- 5 against higher seeded teams in the tournament. Will this trend continue? Georgetown is playing excellent ball; then again, the Eagles were hot on the shot in round one. B.C. was amazingly accurate at the foul line. Can they goad the Hoyas into making mistakes and receiving a bunch of free shots for their efforts? The Hoyas Hibbert versus BC’s Dudley on rebounds could make the difference. Georgetown has the deeper and more diverse bench. This should be a good game.
