Deion Branch Now a Seahawk

Seahawks Add Branch to the Offense

The Seattle Seahawks have had trouble in the past finding a second wide receiver to go along side Darrell Jackson but they may have found their answer by acquiring Patriots’ wide out Deion Branch this week. The Seahawks traded away their first round draft pick in 2007 for Branch in order to add more firepower to the offense that struggled mightily in its first game against Detroit this past Sunday. Branch has been a big contributor to Tom Brady and the Patriots for the last few seasons especially in the big games.

His arrival immediately improves this offense and gives defensive coordinators one more guy to have to worry about on Sundays.
With Jeremy Stevens out until October, Branch gives quarterback Matt Hasselbeck another option in the passing game which they desperately need. It will take a little time for him to learn the offense and get familiar with Hasselbeck but should fit right in with this offense. Defensive secondaries can no longer just worry about Darrell Jackson because Branch has quite the knack for getting open and making catches when it counts. Make no bones about it this is a key acquisition which will make this team better once Branch has time to settle in, making the Super Bowl runners up even better.

Sports books should be bracing themselves for more public action to come in on the Seahawks not only this week but as the season wears on as well. Don’t be surprised if the number seems inflated this week because the public’s attention has certainly been shifted to the improvement of Seattle. What we can learn from this personnel move as sports bettors is the reaction of the public. When they are constantly hearing about Deion Branch all over the television throughout the week, they will be likely to move this line up and inflate the number. Public perception is behind every line set so one must be cautious and constantly aware of what the public is likely to do.
