Recap From Last Season
Week 1 (September 7- 11)
The first week saw Dante Culpepper (37 ATT, 18 COMP, 262 YD), now a Dolphin, trying to right that team. But fill-in Steeler QB Charlie Batch (25 ATT, 15 COMP, 209 YD) would have none of that as the World Championship Steelers beat the Fins 28- 17.
In an upset, Michael Vick (22 ATT, 10 COMP, 140 YD) tossed 2 TDs and ran for 48 yards, leading Atlanta over Jake Delhomme’s (39 ATT, 21 COMP, 186 YD, 1 INT) Super Bowl favored North Carolina Panthers 20- 6. Warrick Dunn ran for 132 yards, as the Falcons dominated the Panthers.
In Manning versus Manning, Peyton’s team (41 ATT, 25 COMP, 276 YD, 1 TD, 1 INT) came out on top of brother Eli’s (34 ATT, 20 COMP, 247 YD, 2 TD, 1 INT), although Eli posted better numbers. Field goal specialist Adam Vinatieri in his first game as a Colt was four for four in field goals and two for two in extra points. The Colts won 26- 21.
In a game that foretold of QB Drew Bledsoe’s fate, the Dallas Cowboys lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars 24- 17. Bledsoe threw three interceptions, with his final one occurring on a TD drive with less than one minute left. Terrell Owens (6 REC, 80 YD, 1 TD) had a solid premiere as a Cowboy.
In another game that revealed the future for two teams, the Chicago Bears, led by Rex Grossman (26 ATT, 18 COMP, 1 TD, 1 INT), were victorious over the Packers and Brett Favre (29 ATT, 15 COMP, 0TD, 2 INT) 26- 0.
Finally, the Chargers hammered the Raiders 27- 0, with RB LaDainian Tomlinson (31 ATT, 131 YD, 1 TD, 58 LG) ripping up the field. Randy Moss was held to 4 catches for 47 yards.
