Washington Redskins Mock Draft Picks
Position Needs for Washington
Defensive Tackle: The Redskins were terrible against the rush last season, a big reason why was the poor play at the defensive tackle position. Problem is they already used 2 draft picks on DT's last year. One has potential while the other looks like a project.
Defensive End: Lets see 19 sacks on the season last year, what is the problem? Ah no one able to sustain pressure on the QB. Go get me a serious pass rusher off the end to free up the rest of the line and see that number grow.
Safety: Mike Rumph was left for a better situation (St. Louis) and Adam Archuleta is a liability in man coverage or the zone and could be one of the worst signings in Redskin history as the guy doesn't fit their scheme at all.
Draft Outlook for the Washington Redskins
The Redskins arguably have been the worst team in terms of accumulating talent through the draft the last few years. This misuse of the draft has put Washington in a major bind. This year they only have 4 draft picks (1st, 5th, 6th, & 7th) in a year when it needs these young guys the most.
Grabbing a safety with range and playmaking skills like LSU's LaRon Landry would help the defense out a ton immediately, but it will not get them any closer to the playoffs if they still have all those D-line issues. If they are able to work out a deal to trade down and accumulate some picks that is the Redskins best move. If not look for them to take the best player available in round 1, and hope to get a little lucky in the latter rounds filling D-line holes.
