Participants/Overview: The 2008 Pac Ten Tournament will be hosted at the Staples Center and will welcome all 10 teams from the conference. We waited a little longer than normal to do this writeup because of the number of bubble teams from this conference. With the Pac 10 tournament getting underway on Wednesday we now have a better idea of who needs what to get in.
The class of the league and favorite to win this years crown is the UCLA Bruins. UCLA finished up the regular season with a 16-2 record in conference play. Although those who watched the last 2 UCLA basketball games would have to argue the legitimacy of those wins. Against Stanford they trailed the entire game before tying it up late on a BS charging call. In the season finale against Cal, some good ole home cookin was in effect as UCLA trailed the Golden Bears late, but murdered a guy on an in bounce pass without getting called for a foul, then made an illegal shot behind the back board to steal the game.
Right now UCLA, Stanford, USC, and Washington State are all shoe ins for at large bids. Arizona even with their 8-10 conference record look to be in good shape thanks to a strong RIP and strength of schedule. Oregon and Arizona State are both on the bubble. One of those teams should be getting a committee invite and both could snatch bids if they win 2 games in the PAC Ten tourney.

Last Years Winner
Oregon Ducks. It was one of the most dominating runs in Pac-Ten
tournament history as the 4 seed claimed the automatic birth into
the March Madness mens tourney. The Ducks started the run with 69-50
thrashing of 5 seeded Arizona. In the semifinals they caught a California
team off an overtime win over #1 seed UCLA the night before. This
one wasn't even close. It was a little bit of the Golden Bears not
having much left as well as hot shooting from Oregon. 81-63 was
the final.
In the championship game Oregon put together their most impressive game of the 3, killing the 3rd seed USC Trojans 81-57. While Oregon as a whole was dominant Bryce Taylor was even better. Taylor was perfect from the filed making all 11 of his shots in route to a career-high 32 points. His perfect shooting night was also a NCAA tournament record for field goal percentage made.
In the 2007 NCAA tournament the Ducks made it all the way to the elite 8. Knocking off three really well coached clubs in Miami Ohio, Winthrop, and UNLV. In the elite eight round they lost to the eventual national championship team, the Florida Gators. Oregon was trying to get to the Final Four for the first time since winning it all in the 1939 season.
