Position Needs for Kansas City
Offensive Tackle: Pass protection from the offensive line was inconsistent all season, especially against the quick speed rushers off the outside. Put most of the blame on the tackle positions.
Defensive Tackle: The Chiefs had one of the worst pass rushes in the league from the middle of the line. Last years additions James Reed and Ron Edwards chalked up a total of 3.5 sacks between the 2. Getting a playmaker to create havoc as well as take the pressure off the LB and defensive ends would be huge for this defense.
Wide Receiver: Right now there are no young wide receivers worthy of mentoring from veteran Kennison who is older and has lost a step entering his 12th year in the league. Samie Parker hasn't been as productive as predicted and overall the entire corps is declining in skill each and every season.
Draft Outlook for the Kansas City Chiefs
In the offseason KC has looked to pick up and fill some holes in one of the problem areas we mentioned defensive tackle. Resigning Ron Edwards and picking up Alfonso Boone from Chicago. Guess what, this is not answer KC. The problem is where the Chiefs are drafting, there isn't a tackle rated, so they would either have to move up or move down to make it justified.
Look for Kansas City to probably go after one of the stud corner backs (another need that wasn't mentioned above), as the cornerback run should start right about this point in the first round.
If they pass on corner and go for the wide receiver to step in right away, Robert Meachem out of Tennessee or even Steve Smith whos draft stock is soaring would be wise selections and fill a void that the Chiefs have had for many years.
