Houston Texans Mock Draft Picks

Position Needs for Houston

Offensive Line: Namely OT, this was one of the worst offensive lines in football again last season. Time to address this once and for all and spend the picks on studs to open holes for the running game and protect the quarterback from getting his head knocked off.

Cornerback: Dunta Robinson is solid, but has no supporting cast. Secondary got torched time and time again in 2006, young fast cover corner is a glaring need for Houston.

Safety: C.C. Brown and Glenn Earl are marginal at best. These are not starters and both could be upgraded to cut down on prolific passing games torching them week after week.

Draft Outlook for the Houston Texans

The 2006 draft will be remembered for the year the Texans passed on Reggie Bush in favor of Mario Williams. In what could be one of the biggest mistakes in draft history. Luckily for Houston they don't have another tough decision as there are a ton of holes to fill on this club.

For the first time since they became a franchise, Houston will not have David Carr as the field general, as the team traded for Atlanta's backup QB Matt Schaub who will take over running the Texans offense. In the offseason Houston also signed free agent running back Ahman Green (Green Bay).

The offensive line was and has been terrible for years. This season it looks as if they could bolster that with a solid gold left tackle like Penn State's Levi Brown. Problem is they switched picks with Atlanta to acquire Schaub and now Miami could steal Brown away from the Texans. If that happens look for them to draft a cornerback opposite Dunta Robinson to cut down on the big plays the secondary allows.
