Position Needs for Detroit
Quarterback: Jon Kitnas supporting cast is terrible, but Kitna is not the future and will never be a star for Detroit. What better way to look at towards the future with the number 2 pick and 2 stud QB's sitting on the board.
Defensive End: No one on this team can get to the passer. Kalkmba Edwards has been a let down, James Hall isn't starter material, and Jared DeVries recorded, count them up, 0 sacks last year.
Offensive Line: Jon Kitna got a taste of what David Carr felt like, as the Lions surrendered 63 sacks in the 2006 season. The entire line stinks and needs to be overhauled. A stud left tackle is a start and this draft has a few of those. If they pass on Quinn, can you say Joe Thomas Detroit?
Draft Outlook for the Detroit Lions
The Lions have been one of the worst teams at evaluating talent and drafting players the last 5 years. The biggest question coming into the 2007 draft is will Detroit select another receiver? Calvin Johnson is the most talented player in the draft and it wouldn't surprise anyone if the Lions didn't draft based on need once again and selected the Georgia Tech stud.
For Detroit fans sake lets hope they make the right call and grab a player they actually need. Quarterback is a one area and they should have Brady Quinn fall right into their lap. The other option is trading down and filling numerous holes on the defensive and offensive line positions. With a move unpopular with Lions fans we expect Detroit to stay at number 2 and select Clemson defensive end Gaines Adams to help the pass rush.
Whatever happens you can expect more bad draft decision making and a long year for Detroit fans as long as the worst president/GM/CEO in sports Matt Millen is at the helm.
