Participants/Overview: The 2007 Western Athletic Conference Tournament takes place at the Pan American Center in New Mexico. The New Mexico State Aggies are the host school for the 2007 edition. One automatic bid into the tournament from the selection committee is awaits the winner of the 2007 WAC tournament championship.
2007 WAC Tournament News, unless everything else around the country falls into place, the Western Athletic Conference will only be sending one team into the NCAA Mens basketball tournament. Nevada is pretty much a shoe in for an at large bid and will be the favorite to win the 2007 WAC basketball championship tournament.
But not so fast. New Mexico State's, one of maddux sports' favorite picks, resume is improving and they are in the bubble talk. The Aggies also get the advantage of hosting this years conference tournament and will be playing in front of home fans and familiar surroundings. A place that at the time of publish they have not lost at this season.
If you want a dark horse for the tourney well coached Utah State took Nevada to the wire in the 2006 WAC tournament and would be favored in terms of the college basketball betting lines over New Mexico State on a neutral court. Don't count the WAC newcomers out, we give them a punchers chance in this one.

TV: The first, second, and semifinal rounds will be available on local tv only or you can view the games online at www.wac.tv. The championship game will be televised on ESPN2 at 9:00 eastern time on March 10th.

Last Years Winner
Nevada Wolfpack. The Wolfpack were the number 1 seeded team and
host of the 2006 WAC tournament. They breezed by the first 2 rounds
and than squared off in the game of the western athletic tournament
against Utah State. The game went into OT and behind the home
court fans the Wolfpack won the game by 7. Nevada was lead by
all-american Nick Fazekas who contributed 23 points and 14 rebounds.
All was not lost for Utah State as an at large bid was granted
to Aggies, something head coach Stew Morrill said if they didn't
get his scholl would be leaving the WAC after one year and going
back to the Big West Conference.
