All 10 teams from the Valley are invited to compete for that guaranteed bid into the NCAA Mens Championship Tournament, which considering the luck the valley has had with the selection committee in recent years, winning the MVC Tournament championship is a must.

The whole league has beaten up on non-conference opponents as well as each other and deserves another 4 bids into this years national championship field.
The most interesting story going into the 2007 Missouri Valley Conference basketball tournament is that Wichita State (the preseason league favorite), will have to win the MVC championship if they expect to make it to the 2007 NCAA big dance. What looked on paper as a phenomenal team, the Shockers have fallen on hard times, blowing close game after close game, losing at home to inferior foes, and leaving themselves in a must win situation. There is plenty of talent on this team and a run is probable if Mark Turgeon can get his team playing the way they were at the beginning of the season where they had wins at George Mason, LSU, & Syracuse. Last Years Winner
Southern Illinois Salukis. SIU beat Evansville in the first round
and Northern Iowa in the second to reach the championship game.
In the finals they played the 5th seeded Bradley Braves. The Salukis
used fierce defense and a second half surge to win the game by
double digits. What should not be forgotten in the 2006 tournament
was the loss by Missouri State and the screw
job the tournament committee gave the Bears and Valley overall.
