Participants/Overview: The 2007 Colonial Athletic Association Tournament returns to Richmond Virginia and will host some of the most underated basketball in division 1-A. Much like the Missouri Valley Conference the CAA gets no respect from the media or the selection comitee. At the time of publish the CAA deserves to be a multiple bid league but count on another disapointing selection sunday if you are a CAA member that doesn't win this tournament. If you gain the sure fire bid into The 2007 Mens Basketball tournament it could be Hofstra all over.
2007 CAA Tournament News, it is hard to say who the favorite is to win the 2007 Colonial Athletic Association Tournament. In the mix right now are Virginia Commonwealth, Old Dominion, Hofstra, and Drexel. It is hard to imagine that with the exception of George Mason any other team than the previous 4 winning this years postseason tourney.
Accorindy to the ncaa basketball odds, and our expert opinion of the CAA, this season the Colonial is a 3 tier league with 4 teams being very good, 4 teams being mediocre, and than the bottom 4 schools of the league. Hofstra and Drexel will probably have to win the CAA conference tournament if they expect to be dancing, where as Virginia Commonwealth and Old Dominion could finish out the conference season strong and might have a strong enough resume to make it to the championship game, lose close, and have an outside shot with the tournament commitee giving them a bone on March 11th.

Last Years Winner
UNC-Wilmington. The number 1 seeded Seahawks were rewarded with
an easy draw to get to the championship game. They recorded double
digit wins over Delaware and Northeastern in the first two rounds
of the CAA tournament. In the championship game they defeated
number 2 seeded Hofstra who had a tough road beating an underrated
Virginia Commonwealth team and eventual final four team in George
Mason. Little did Hofstra know that losing to UNC-Wilmington in
the finals ultimately kept them out of the Big Dance as George
Mason was selected as the other at large team from the Colonial
League. It was a shame for how good the CAA was in 2006 to only
get in 2 teams, but hey that is corporate america for ya.
