Participants/Overview: The 2007 Big Ten Tournament will invite all eleven teams in the conference to participate. As with all of the conference tournaments the winner receives a guaranteed bid into the 2007 March Madness Tournament. The top 5 teams will receive first round byes meaning they will play one less game.
2007 Big 10 Tournament News, at the time of writing Ohio State and Wisconsin are the top 2 teams in the conference and will likely be grabbing the number 1 and 2 seeds. If either one of these schools remains hot and wins the Big Ten Tournament championship they will likely be rewarded with a coveted number 1 seed in the 2007 NCAA mens basketball tournament.
A more important stake in this years 2007 Big Ten basketball tournament is there are about 4-5 teams all on the tournament bubble that will need wins to gain at large bids to the postseason tourney. Indiana looks solid and should be tourney bound, but Illinois, Purdue, Iowa, Michigan, and Michigan State will most likely be playing for their lives needing a good showing to impress the selection committee.
Gaining conference wins the rest of the way trying to secure one of the all important top 5 seeds is imperative for these schools. Having to play one less game against a tired opponent cannot be measured in terms of importance at having a shot at knocking off one of the Big 10 basketball powers (Wisconsin & Ohio State) and having an odds on chance at winning the title.

TV: The first two rounds of the tournament will be televised on the EPSN networks (ESPN, ESPN2, & ESPN Plus). Your local CBS affiliate will be broadcasting the semifinals on Saturday and the championship game on Sunday at 2:30 central time.

Last Years Winner
Iowa Hawkeyes. The Hawkeyes lead by Senior Jeff Horner used a
2nd half comeback outscoring the favored Buckeyes by 10 after
the intermission to claim the Big 10 Tournament championship.
Along the way Iowa defeated Michigan State and Minnesota in the
earlier rounds. Iowa was rewarded by the selection committee with
a #3 seed into the 2006 NCAA tourney.
