Participants/Overview: The top 12 of the 16 teams in the big east conference make the big east tourney field. One automatic bid into the 2007 NCAA tournament goes to the college that wins the big east basketball tournament championship.
Some interesting 2007 Big East Tournament News, the Connecticut Huskies just barley hung on to the 12th seed and will not be dancing without winning the Big East championship. The bottom 4 teams that were looking to defy the odds but came up short were the Seton Hall Pirates, South Florida Bulls, Rutgers Scarlet Knights, and Cincinnati Bearcats.
Don't pencil in the big east championship to one of the top seeds, like Georgetown or Pittsburgh, this conference is deep and talented top to bottom and like last year's Big East basketball tournament winner Syracuse, a mid range seed could win the title. March 7th - 8 seed versus 9 seed,
5 vs 12, 7 vs 10, 6 vs 11.
March 8th - 8 or 9 vs 1, 5 or 12
vs 4, 7 or 10 vs 2, 6 or 11 vs 3.
March 9th - Semifinals - TBA
March 10th - Championship - TBA

in 4 days cementing their bid into the 2006 mens basketball tournament.
Along the way and on the shoulders of Jerry Mcnamara, Syracuse
beat Cincinnati, Connecticut, Marquette, and the Pitt Panthers
in the championship game.
