Position Needs for Cincinnati

Defensive Line: Overall the Bengals line is getting up there in age. San Adams and Bryan Robinson don't have much left. John Thorton is not the future at the tackle position. Stud Justin Smith was franchised so defensive end looks to be okay, but until the situation is finalized, keep DE on the questionable list.

Cornerback: Tory James is likely gone and at age 34 that is not a bad thing. Deltha O'Neal continually got burned last season. Drafting a corner opposite young star Jonathon Joseph could mightily help the Bengals pass defense.

Linebacker: Odell Thurman who missed the 06 campaign due to drug suspension doesn't appear to be welcomed back. Improvements can be made where Brian Simmons, Landon Johnson, and Rashard Jeanty were the main linebacking core last season.

Draft Outlook for the Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals haven't drafted a defensive tackle in round 1 since 1994. This has left Cincinnati with mediocrity at the position. Unless Amobi Okoye from Louisville or Alan Branch from Michigan slip down the board to the Bengals at 18, Cincy will most likely look at a linebacker. Lawrence Timmons from Florida State, Jon Beason from Miami, and Paul Posluszny from linebacker U all look to be likely choices.

If they decide to go with a cornerback at number 18, Pitt's Darrelle Revis, Texas' Aaron Ross, Arkansas' Chrish Houston, and UNLV's Eric Wright all are viable options. This would open the door for Cincy to go after a run stuffing tackle in the 2nd round.

The Bengals won't have a third round pick in the 07 draft so making no mistakes and drafting high character players will be imperative to the teams success for the 2007 NFL football season.
