Trying To Win The Breeders’ Cup Pick Six
There are few things harder in gambling to win than a pick six. It costs a fortune to play it properly, and it all can be derailed too easily. I haven’t done any Breeders’ Cup content this year because I don’t get the sense that most people here care about the ponies as much as I do. For kicks now, though, I’m going to try to put together a winning pick six ticket. It’s play money, so I plan to spend a lot of it. I can afford to, though – the pick six paid more than $155,000 today, and should be much bigger tomorrow. Here we go:
Instead of typing out a whole bunch of tickets, what I am going to do is list my ‘A’ horses and ‘B’ horses for each race. In order for me to win I’ll need to have either five ‘A’ horses and one ‘B’ horses win, or five ‘A’ horses. Once I lay out the horses I’ll figure out the total cost:
Race 4: A – 1 B – 2,5,9
Race 5: A – 4,11,13 B – 6,8,9
Race 6: A – 7,9,11 B – 3,5
Race 7: A – 1,3,5,9 B – 2
Race 8: A – 2,6 B – 5,7
Race 9: A – 2,5,6,7 B – 1,3,4,9,10
Total cost: $9,792 (Like I said, these things are very expensive – good thing it’s fake money)
Good luck tomorrow on anything you do bet. There are some reasonably easy races on this card tomorrow, but the Classic certainly isn’t one of them – it is as wide open as a race can possibly be. I went nine horses deep on my pick six, and I feel like I could have gone deeper.
