JaMychal Green returns from a 4 game suspension against Mississippi St in a critical SEC game. The Crimson Tide are 5.5 favorites at home.

Just two weeks ago, Mississippi St was 6-3 in the SEC and ranked in top 20 nationally. Since then the Bulldogs have gone on a 4 game losing streak that has dropped them to seventh place in the SEC including 73-64 at home against #1 Kentucky Tuesday night. The 19-9 Bulldogs try to right the ship as they take on the 18-9 Alabama Crimson Tide who are 7-6 in the SEC. Alabama has won 2 games in a row including 79-68 at Arkansas Thursday. The Crimson Tide lead the series 114-73 overall against Mississippi St including 72-16 in Tuscaloosa. Mississippi St won earlier this season in Starkville 56-52. The Bulldogs haven’t won in Tuscaloosa since 2007.

Alabama has losses to Georgetown, Dayton, Kansas St, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, South Carolina, LSU, and Florida.

Alabama is outscoring opponents 66-58 this season. Alabama is #12 in points allowed.  The Crimson Tide are shooting 45.5% from the field including 28% from 3 point range. Alabama shoots 70.5% from the free throw line. The Crimson Tide average 35.4 rebounds, and have a rebounding margin of +2.3. Alabama is in the top 11 nationally in both categories.  Alabama forces 14.1 turnovers a game.

Alabama forward JaMychal Green averages 14.1 points, 7.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.5 blocks a game. He leads the team in scoring, rebounding and blocks. However, he missed the last 4 games due to a suspension. Coach Grant reinstated him for practice, and said he will be available for this game. It is not known how much he will play. The Bulldogs are 9-2-1 ATS as an underdog including6-1-1 as one of 6.5 points or less, 6-2 as a road underdog, 2-5 against teams with winning records, 2-6 after a straight up loss, overall and in SEC games, 1-5 in road games against teams with winning home records, 0-4 in Saturday games, and and 0-5 after a cover. The Crimson Tide are 17-8-1 ATS as a home favorite, including 8-2 as a favorite of 6.5 points or less, 2-5 as a favorite, 2-6 at home against teams with losing road records, and 1-4 at home.

Mississippi St has struggled on the road this season, and historically hasn’t done well in Tuscaloosa. It will be interesting to see how Alabama plays with  Green returning after the suspension. If he feels pressure to score, he might force shots and affect the  team chemistry. Still I like Alabama to win at home.
