SEC- Arkansas Stuns Auburn

The unranked Arkansas Razorbacks were not very polite visitors today as they went to the #2 Auburn Tigers’ home and beat them 27-10 in a major upset. RB Darren McFadden carried the ball 28 times, gaining a total of 144 yards and scoring 1 TD. His score came on a break away 63-yard run with five minutes left to go in the second quarter.

Arkansas QB Mitch Mustain was 7 of 10 throwing for 87 yards and 1 TD. The touchdown was on a 50-yard pass to WR Marcus Monk. The game was won and lost on the ground with Arkansas runners gaining an average of 6.2 yards per carry while the Tigers picked up only 1.9 yards per rush. In the air, the Razorbacks gained 8.7 yards per try and Auburn averaged 4.4 yards.

The Arkansas defense also made a big difference, shutting down two fourth down tries by the Tigers. Auburn scored its ten points in the second quarter. The Razorbacks limited the Tigers to short gains on the ground and in the air.

Arkansas moves into first place in the SEC West with a 3- 0 conference record (4-1 overall) and Auburn is second with a 3-1 mark (5- 1 overall). Watch for Auburn to slip considerably in the national rankings (perhaps moving down 8 to 12 spots) and for Arkansas to make a bid for the Top-25.
