Random Thoughts
If Brett Favre were to fall off the face of the earth I wouldn’t miss him at this point. You have to be a seriously egotistical jackass to string a team along like he did for as long as he did before deciding to pack it in. I’m making a vow now – I absolutely will not write a word about his next comeback attempt. Or the one after that.
It’s a great weekend for horse racing. I won’t bore those of you who don’t care with full previews, but here’s what I see happening – It’s a weekend for favorites. I like Mine That Bird to take the West Virginia Derby reasonably easy, and I don’t see anyone who can beat Rachel Alexandra in the Haskell. The only three year old contest that doesn’t look like a chalk-fest is the Jim Dandy at Saratoga. I like Charitable Man, the third choice in the race, to take that one. He’s got a huge class advantage over the field in my eyes. It should be a great weekend of racing.
I don’t understand Fedor Emelianenko at all. He’s clearly the top heavyweight in the world, and the UFC is by far the biggest and best MMA organization in the world, yet he is totally unwilling to join them. The UFC has called off negotiations with him this time around because he and his management insist on co-promoting every any card he appears on. The UFC has no interest in co-promotions, and there is no reason that they should. There is not really anyone impressive for Fedor to fight outside of the UFC, and no worthy organization left for him to fight for. The longer he stalls on joining the UFC, the more you have to wonder if he is scared. Or maybe he’s just stupid.
Is there anyone on the planet who is surprised that David Ortiz tested positive? The guy is massive, he kills the ball, and he has suddenly forgot how to hit. Of course he was/is doping. I find it really hard to care about anything to do with drugs anymore.
