Texans Vs Jaguars Preview
The Houston Texans are 12-5-1 ATS at home the last two-plus seasons

Tennessee opened up the 2013 regular season with a 16-9 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers as six-point road underdogs Sunday, while going UNDER the betting total of 42.  The Titans placed a premium on ball control, with quarterback Jake Locker completing 11 of 20 passes for 125 yards, which can’t be ignored when making your pro football picks in Week 2.  The franchise is trying to win its first two road games of a particular season for the first time since 2010.  Tennessee is 2-10 ATS versus division opponents the last two-plus seasons, with no clear edge in the betting total (6-6 Over/Under).

The Titans are 14-8 against the Texans, with identical marks at LP Field and Reliant Stadium.  Tennessee allowed a league-worst 29.4 points per game last season, while ranking 27th by giving up 374.9 yards per game.  Offensively, the team will go as far as running back Chris Johnson can take them, but he rushed for just 70 yards on 25 carries in the season opener, while backup Jackie Battle scored the team’s lone touchdown in the affair.

Houston won both meetings against Tennessee a season ago, but benefited greatly from a 9-0 turnover differential, which is important to consider when looking over the pro football odds page.  The Texans opened up the 2013 campaign with a 31-28 victory over the San Diego Chargers as five-point road favorites—winning the statistical battle by 186 yards.  Quarterback Matt Schaub went to the air in that affair, as he completed 34 of 45 passes for 345 yards and three touchdowns.  Houston is 12-5-1 ATS at home over the last two-plus seasons, with the UNDER going 12-6 in those 18 opportunities.

The Texans have some of the best offensive weapons in the league at Schaub’s disposal, with running back Arian Foster and wide receiver Andre Johnson.  On the other side of the football, Houston defensive end J.J. Watt leads the attack, but the defensive unit may take a step back this year after ranking seventh overall in 2012.

Sports bettors will likely back the Texans due to their 5-0 ATS mark in Week 2, while the Titans are 7-21-1 ATS in their last 29 games versus winning teams.
