The Miami Dolphins are 3-0 ATS as a favorite this year

Philadelphia continues to be one of the more disappointing teams in the league and has lost four of five games, including a 31-14 loss to the Seattle Seahawks as three-point road favorites in Week 13.  The Eagles have fallen to 4-8 on the year and are three games back of the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC East standings.  Turnovers have been a major hindrance for the squad, leading the league with 29 giveaways, which has continued with backup quarterback Vince Young throwing eight interceptions in the last three games.  Philadelphia is 4-8 ATS this year and the ‘over’ is 6-5 in those contests.

The Eagles are just one loss away from potentially having just their second losing season since the 2000 campaign, but will likely have Michael Vick back under center.  He has missed the last three games with injured ribs, but should be in the huddle Sunday to lead an offense that ranks No. 3 in the NFL in averaging 412.7 yards per game.  Running back LeSean McCoy continues to be the most consistent player offensively, ranking second in the league with 1,134 rushing yards, but will be going up against a defense that allows just 93.2 yards per game on the ground.

Miami has won four of five games and picked up a 34-14 win over the Oakland Raiders as 3.5-point home favorites.  The Dolphins have also covered their last six games, out-gaining four of their opponents over that span.  Since starting the 2011 campaign with an 0-7 record, the team has outscored its last five opponents by a 139-54 margin.  “We’re having fun,” commented Dolphins linebacker Kevin Burnett.  The four wins in that span have come by an incredible average of 21.5 points.  Miami is 3-0 ATS as a favorite this season, while the ‘under’ is 2-1 in those contests.

The Dolphins are extremely pleased with the play of their backup quarterback that took over for the injured Chad Henne, as Matt Moore has managed to connect on 64.3 percent of his passes and has thrown for eight touchdowns over the last five games.  Miami’s running game has also started to come on, led by the play of offseason acquisition Reggie Bush, entering with a career-high 667 rushing yards.

Bettors will likely back the Dolphins due to their 4-1 ATS mark when coming off a win of more than 14 points, while the Eagles are 0-6 ATS versus losing teams.
