The Denver Nuggets have won six consecutive games entering Sunday

Los Angeles is set to play one of the toughest back-to-backs of the season, traveling to the Mile High City before returning home and hosting the Oklahoma City Thunder.  The Clippers have alternated wins and losses over their last seven games, coming off a 98-91 win over the Memphis Grizzlies as 3.5-point home favorites.  It’s important to note that the team has dropped its last four games on the road, giving up 106.0 points per game and allowing opponents to shoot 51 percent from the field in those contests.  Los Angeles is 1-4 ATS in road games this year.

The Clippers have won the last two games in this series, but both of those meetings occurred inside the Staples Center.  Los Angeles has dropped nine consecutive games in Denver, but hope its fortune will turn around with point guard Chris Paul directing the offense.  The former New Orleans Hornets star has averaged 25.6 points and 9.8 assists in his last five visits to the Pepsi Center.

Denver has rattled off six consecutive wins and the “over” is 5-1 in those contests, coming in off an impressive 96-81 victory over the Toronto Raptors as 13-point home favorites.  The Nuggets offense has flourished over the winning streak, averaging 109.7 points per game, with Danilo Gallinari leading the way in scoring 25.5 points a contest over his last four games.  Many NBA experts questioned the team’s trade of star forward Carmelo Anthony a year ago, but that sentiment has been proven wrong.  Denver is 9-4 ATS as a favorite this year and the “under” is 7-6 in those games.

The Nuggets have four starters averaging in double figures and point guard Ty Lawson ranks second on the team in averaging 15.7 points per game.  He will get to match up with Chauncey Billups, who spent some time in the Mile High City before landing in New York and ultimately Los Angeles.  “Chauncey was huge because I was a young point guard coming into the game,” stated Lawson this week.  “He’s been everywhere I want to be.”  Denver will finish out this two-game homestand and then take to the road for two games, which includes a rematch with Los Angeles on Feb. 2.

Bettors will likely back the Nuggets due to their 9-1-1 ATS versus Pacific division opponents, while the Clippers are 4-9 ATS as a road underdog of 5 to 10.5 points.
