The New York Giants are focused on avoiding an 0-3 start in the NFC East

Washington snapped a six-game losing streak in this NFC East rivalry by sweeping the 2011 series, which included a 23-10 win as 5.5-point road underdogs last year, while three of the past four have gone UNDER the total.  The Redskins have become one of the more exciting teams in the NFL due to selecting Robert Griffin III with the second overall selection in this year’s draft.  He ranks 15th in the league with 379 rushing yards, which leads all signal-callers heading into Week 7.  Washington is 8-4 ATS as a road underdog of seven points or less, with the UNDER going 4-8 in that situation.

The Redskins are coming off a 38-26 win over the Minnesota Vikings, as they now focus on starting their division schedule on a winning note.  Washington also knows that New York will be desperate for a victory in this particular contest, considering the defending Super Bowl champions have dropped their first two games in divisional play.  “These games are always a battle,” stated Redskins linebacker Ryan Kerrigan.  “They’re a lot of fun to play in.”

New York is one of just five teams with a better road record than home record over the last five-plus seasons, as the team’s 25-18 mark in the Meadowlands is the 16th-best mark in the league in that particular situation.  The Giants are 5-5 in their last 10 regular-season home games, which includes a disappointing 2-5 mark versus divisional foes.  “We’re 0-2 in the division,” stated head coach Tom Coughlin.  “We need to get going.”  New York is 6-3 ATS in October the last two-plus seasons.

The Giants have won two of their three home games this year, but trailed by at least 14 points in each of those contests.  New York has won six of its last eight home games in this rivalry during the Coughlin era, as the team will lean heavily on quarterback Eli Manning.  He has thrown for 1,772 yards this season, which is the league’s third-highest total in that category.

Sports bettors will likely back the Giants due to their 5-2-1 ATS mark at home in this series, while the Redskins are 1-4 ATS in October.
