New York has alternated wins and losses over its first 10 games of the 2013 season, as it looks to bounce back from a 37-14 defeat to the Buffalo Bills as one-point road favorites last week, while going OVER the betting total for a fourth consecutive contest.  The Jets are still in control of their AFC Wild Card destiny. which is important to consider when making your NFL betting picks in Week 12.  “We have to win,” commented Jets rookie quarterback Geno Smith.  New York is 3-1 SUATS as underdogs of 3.5 to 9.5 points since 2011.

The Jets need to go vertical in the passing game, especially with Smith hitting wide receiver Santonio Holmes for 33 and 38 yards last week, while the Ravens have allowed 25 passes of 25-plus yards this season.  Smith has turned the ball over 20 times this season, which is the most in the league, but the rushing attack could bail him out in this spot.  Offensively, the team ranks eighth in the league in averaging 129.5 yards on the ground, with running back Chris Ivory being the main option.

Baltimore has played five of its last seven games on the road, as it attempts to bounce back from a 23-20 overtime setback to the Chicago Bears last Sunday, while it has lost the statistical battle in its last three affairs.  The Ravens have allowed 12.8 points per game at M&T Bank Stadium this season, with the defense permitting just three touchdowns in four contests.  Since head coach John Harbaugh’s arrival in 2008, the team has allowed just 14.9 points on average in that particular situation.  Baltimore is 5-1-1 ATS as home favorites of 3.5 to 7 points the last two-plus seasons.

The Ravens have produced 67 sacks at home since the 2011 campaign, which is tied for the second-most in the league over that span.  Baltimore is 7-1 SU all-time against New York, with seven consecutive wins dating back to 1998.  The franchise will likely add onto its sack total in facing a first-year signal-caller, especially since it has gotten to the quarterback two or more times in 18-straight games.

Sports bettors will likely play the total, as the UNDER is 6-0 in the Ravens’ last six home games.
