Chiefs Ravens NFL Preview
Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice should have a big day against the Oakland Raiders on Sunday

Oakland is set to make the third of its five trips to the Eastern Time Zone, as it will travel 28,692 miles during the 2012 season, which is more than any other NFL team.  Raiders quarterback Carson Palmer played against the Ravens 13 times as a member of the Cincinnati Bengals, going 9-4 in those games.  He recorded the sixth 400-yard passing game in team history last week in a 42-32 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as one-point home favorites.  Oakland is 9-5 ATS as an underdog of 3.5 to 9.5 points the last two-plus seasons, with the UNDER going 8-6 in that situation.

The Raiders have scored 44 points off turnovers this season, which is tied for fourth in the league.  Oakland has dropped five of six meetings in this series, including a 21-13 setback as 10-point home underdogs on Jan. 3, 2010.  Offensively, the team will likely rely on Palmer in a big way, considering that running backs Darren McFadden and Mike Goodson are likely out with injuries this week.

Baltimore has won five of its last six games and will play its only home game in November on Sunday, as it comes off a 25-15 victory over the Cleveland Browns as 3.5-point road favorites, while going UNDER the total for the first time in three weeks.  The Ravens ran the ball 37 times last week, which is an important number considering they’ve won all 18 of their games when having at least 22 rushing attempts since the start of the 2011 campaign.  Baltimore is 7-7 ATS as a favorite of 3.5 to 9.5 points over the last two-plus seasons.

The Ravens will likely have to win this game on the offensive end, as their defense is allowing 386.3 yards per game, which ranks 26th in the NFL.  Baltimore should find plenty of running room for Ray Rice against an Oakland stop unit that allowed Tampa Bay rookie running back Doug Martin to gain 251 yards last week.  Rice finished with 98  of the team’s season-high 137 rushing yards in Week 9.

Sports bettors will likely play the total in this affair, as the UNDER is 1-3 in the Ravens’ last four games as a home favorite of 7.5 to 10 points.
