NFL- The Colts Also Have a Running Game

Clearly the Indianapolis Colts have a passing game with one of the best QBs in the pros, Peyton Manning, calling the signals and throwing the ball. Manning has simple gotten better and better each season and last year he led the team, after numerous failed tries, to the championship. With the departure of star RB Edgerrin James, who went to the Arizona Cardinals, last season, everyone wondered what the Colts would do for a running game? How would they make up for James dogged energy and many years of 1,000-plus yard seasons?

In his first season, RB Joseph Addai provided surprise breakout speed and game-breaking potential. In his first sixteen NFL games, Addai had 226 carries for 1081 yards, averaging 4.8 yard per carry. He scored 7 touchdowns while making and losing 2 fumbles. In the second-half of the season, he put in two 100-plus yard games, running for 171 yards versus the Eagles and 100 yards against Houston. In the playoffs, he gained 122 yards against the Kansas City Chiefs. He also proved to have sure hands, grabbing 40 catches during the regular season and 22 during the playoffs, including 10 against the Chicago Bears in the Super Bowl, which the Colts won 29- 17.

Last season, Addai was an unknown, and he surprised a lot of offenses. This season, clubs will have had a chance to adjust to his power and moves. For the Colts to have a chance at repeating, the second-year running back needs to continue to be the running and catching threat he was in his rookie season.
