Green Bay hosts Seattle in a rematch of the NFC Championship game.

The Seattle Seahawks beat the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship game last year in Seattle. The two teams meet again Sunday night, but this time in Green Bay. Seattle is 0-1 this season and Green Bay is 1-0.

Green Bay leads the series 10-8 against Seattle. The Seahawks have won 3 straight games against the Packers including twice last year. The Seahawks won the season opener in Seattle 36-16 and then the NFC Championship 28-22 in overtime. Seattle trailed in that game 19-7 with just over 2 minutes left but came back to win.

Seattle is coached by Pete Carroll. The Seahawks were 3.5 point favorites at the St. Louis Rams last week and the total was 41.5. Seattle scored first on a 57 yard punt return for a touchdown from rookie Tyler Lockett. St. Louis would score 10 straight points, before Seattle tied it up at 10 going into halftime. Seattle took a 13-10 lead early in the third but St. Louis scored 14 straight points to take a 24-13 going into the fourth. Seattle scored 17 straight points to take a 31-24 lead. Seattle had a defensive touchdown in that stretch. The Rams tied it up with less than a minute left in the fourth. St. Louis would win 34-31 in overtime.

Seattle had 343 total yards including 219 passing yards and 124 rushing yards. St. Louis had 352 total yards including 276 passing yards. Seattle had 21 first downs to 19 for St. Louis. Seattle had 7 penalties for 46 yards and St. Louis had 4 for 30 yards. The Rams had 3 turnovers to one for the Seahawks. Seattle had possession for more than 37 minutes.

Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson threw for 251 yards with a touchdown and an interception, and rushed for 31 yards on 8 carries. Running back Marshawn Lynch had 18 carries for 73 yards, and had 5 catches for 31 yards.

Receiver Jermaine Kearse had 8 catches for 76 yards. Tight end Jimmy Graham had 6 catches for 51 yards and a touchdown. Doug Baldwin had 7 catches for 35 yards. Lockett had 4 catches for 34 yards.

Green Bay is coached by Mike McCarthy. The Packers traveled to the rival Chicago Bears last week. The Packers were 6 point favorites and the total was 48.5. Green Bay led 7-3 at the end of the first quarter. Chicago would take a 13-10 lead into halftime. Green Bay took a 17-16 lead going into the fourth. The Packers expanded the lead to 31-16 in the fourth. Chicago scored with less than a minute left in the fourth to make the final 31-23. The last touchdown didn’t affect the spread but did send the game over the total.

Green Bay had 322 total yards including 189 passing and 133 rushing yards. Chicago had 402 total yards including 213 passing and 189 rushing yards. The Bears had 25 first downs to 21 for the Packers. Green Bay had 10 penalties for 74 yards, and Chicago had 6 penalties for 64 yards. Chicago had the only turnover of the game.

Aaron Rodgers completed 18 of 23 passes for 189 yards with 3 touchdowns, along with 8 carries for 35 yards. Running back Eddie Lacy had 19 carries for 85 yards and a touchdown, plus two catches for 14 yards. Receiver Davante Adams has 4 catches for 59 yards. James Jones had 4 catches for 51 yards and 2 touchdowns. Randall Cobb had 5 catches for 38 yards and a touchdown. He is probable with a shoulder injury. Receiver Jordy Nelson is out for the season with a torn ACL.

Seattle looked a little shaky on defense last week against the Rams. Part of that is the injuries and Chancellor’s holdout. I like the Packers to win at home in a high scoring game.
