The Cardinals are 1 point favorites against the Seahawks Sunday night.

The 4-1 Seattle Seahawks are in first place in the NFC West over the 3-3 Arizona Cardinals and Los Angeles Rams. The Seahawks can widen their lead as they travel to the Cardinals Sunday night. Seattle is one of four teams with one loss or fewer in the NFL.

The series is tied 17-17 between the Seahawks and Cardinals. Seattle has won five of the last seven games in the series. They split the series last year with the Cardinals winning 39-32 on the road. The Seahawks would return the favor 36-6 in Arizona in the last game of the regular season. However, the Cardinals had already clinched the division title and rested their starters. The teams will meet on Christmas Eve in Seattle.

Seattle is coached by Pete Carroll. Seattle has a loss at the Los Angeles Rams 9-3. The Seahawks have home wins over the Miami Dolphins 12-10, San Francisco 49ers 37-18 and Atlanta Falcons 26-24 last week, plus a road win at the New York Jets 27-17. Seattle led 17-3 at halftime against Atlanta, but the Falcons scored 21 unanswered points in the third to take a 24-17 lead. Seattle scored a touchdown but missed the extra point. The Seahawks kicked the go-ahead 44 yard field goal after Falcons’ QB Matt Ryan threw an interception.  Atlanta went four and out on their last possession and Seattle ran out the clock. The Seahawks were 7 point favorites against the Falcons and the total was 45.5. Seattle is 2-3 ATS and the total is 3-2 this season.

Arizona is coached by Bruce Arians. The Cardinals have  home wins over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 40-7 and New York Jets 28-3 last Monday, plus a road win at the San Francisco 49ers 33-21. Arizona has home losses to the New England Patriots 23-21 and Rams 17-13, plus a road loss at the Buffalo Bills 33-18. The Cardinals were 7 point favorites against the Jets and the total was 45.5. Arizona is 3-3 ATS this season and the total is 2-4 this season.

Running back Christine Michael has 81 carries for 354 yards and 4 touchdowns, plus 15 catches for 87 yards and a touchdown. Thomas Rawls is out indefinitely with a shin injury. Running back C.J. Prosise is probable with a hand injury. Look for C.J. Spiller to get some carries too.

Quarterback Carson Palmer has completed 60.4% of his passes for 1,363 yards with 7 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. He didn’t practice until Friday with severe leg cramping but is probable. Drew Stanton started against the 49ers. He has thrown for 184 yards with 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions.

Running back David Johnson has 113 carries for 568 yards and 8 touchdowns along with 20 catches for 265 yards. Chris Johnson is out until at least week 12 with a hernia. Seattle is 6-1-1 ATS in week 7, 19-5-2 after passing for more than 250 yards, 20-41-2 in October, 2-5 after allowing more than 350 yards and overall, 1-4 after allowing 90 rushing yards or less, and against NFC teams, and 1-6 after a straight up win. The road team is 5-1 ATS in this series recently. The Seahawks are 5-2 ATS against the Cardinals recently.

Arizona is 6-2 ATS after allowing 90 rushing yards or less, 2-5 after a cover, and against teams with winning road records, 3-8 at home, 1-4 after a straight up win, 1-4-1 in week 7, 2-8 against teams with winning records, 1-5 after a win by 14 points or more and after allowing 15 points or less. The over is 10-2 in this series in games played in Arizona.

Seattle has won three games in a row, and Arizona has won two in a row. Of course, both teams winning streaks involve the Jets and 49ers, two of the worst teams in football. This should be a low scoring game because they both have dominant defenses and the offenses haven’t been that great at times. The Cardinals need this game slightly more because Seattle would be 5-1 with a win and be in firm control of the division. I like the Cardinals to win a close game.
