Colorado State is 6-17 SU versus Colorado since 1987, as it looks to avenge a 41-27 setback as three-point favorites in last year’s meeting—outgained by a sizable 509-295 margin in total yards.  The Rams return 12 total starters and 46 lettermen, with first-team All-Mountain West kicker Jared Roberts and punter Hayden Hunt back in the fold as well.  Offensively, the program welcomes back 100 percent of its passing and 73.6 percent of its receiving, but it will need to find a replacement for Walter Camp All-America running back Kapri Gibbs.  Colorado State is 5-0 ATS in its last five non-conference affairs, which is important to consider when making your NCAA football predictions in Week 1.

The Rams will need to take a step forward defensively to remain competitive this season, as they weren’t on the field very much with Gibbs carrying the load offensively—behind an offensive line that said goodbye to four starters.  Linebackers Aaron Davis and Max Morgan have been the team’s top tacklers in each of the last two-plus seasons, but combined for just six quarterback hits with no sacks a year ago.  Seven of its top eight players return to a porous secondary that allowed 33 touchdowns—the second-highest total among FBS members.

Colorado has won five of the six meetings in this series since it landed in the Mile High City during the 2007 campaign, with the average win coming by a margin of 15 points and the only loss being by five.  The Buffaloes are still trying to rebuild a once proud program, with former San Jose State coach Mike MacIntyre entering his second year in Boulder.  Running backs Michael Adkins and Christian Powell will be the main weapons offensively, with the departure of wide receiver Paul Richardson to the NFL.  Colorado has gone OVER the number in eight of its last nine Friday contests.

The Buffaloes may dominate the line of scrimmage defensively, with three starters back on the line, which could lead to the creation of turnovers due to an experienced secondary.  Colorado has three players returning that registered multiple interceptions, with cornerback Greg Henderson leading the group with four.

Sports bettors will likely play the total when looking over the college football lines page, considering the UNDER is 5-1 in the last six meetings in this series.
