The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are 4-12 ATS after a straight-up loss

Notre Dame will look to bounce back from a 65-58 loss to the Connecticut Huskies as 8.5-point home favorites Saturday, while going UNDER the posted total of 135.  “I loved how we fought, and it wasn’t all going great for us,” stated Fighting Irish coach Mike Brey.  The Fighting Irish have dropped their last two decisions against the Red Storm, with both of those occurring at Madison Square Garden, including a 61-58 setback as six-point road favorites last year.  Notre Dame is 6-5 ATS as a favorite this season, which is important to note when looking over the college basketball odds page.

The Fighting Irish’ 14-2 start matches their best 16-game record under Brey’s watch, as their led by three players in the starting lineup averaging in double figures.  Senior forward Jack Cooley leads the charge in scoring 15.1 points and grabbing 11.1 rebounds per game.  The program is 33-10 in its last 43 Big East Conference regular-season affairs, while going 72-37 in that situation dating back seven seasons.

St. John’s has suffered back-to-back home losses since upsetting Cincinnati on Dec. 5, as it comes off a disappointing 67-51 defeat to the Georgetown Hoyas as one-point underdogs Saturday.  “We’re very embarrassed but we have to get back to work,” commented sophomore forward Sir’Dominic Pointer.  The Red Storm are 401-270 all-time at “The World’s Most Famous Arena,” which includes a 4-8 mark during the 2011-12 campaign.  St. John’s is 2-2 ATS as home underdogs of 3.5 to 6 points since 2010, which can’t be ignored when making your NCAA basketball picks.

The Red Storm has split their two games against ranked opponents this year, while picking up eight victories over Top 25 foes during the Steve Lavin era.  St. John’s is led by one of the better guards in the conference, as D’Angelo Harrison is second in the league in averaging 20.6 points per game.

Sports bettors will likely back the Red Storm due to their 4-0 ATS mark at home in this series, while the Fighting Irish are 4-12 ATS following a SU loss.
