The Indiana Hoosiers are leading the country in point differential

Florida Atlantic will play its final non-conference road game of the 2012-13 season Friday night, as it prepares to take on the sixth-ranked team in the country.  The Owls have lost back-to-back games, including a 69-68 home loss to Stetson last time out.  The program is 0-4 all-time against current members of the Big Ten Conference, with losses to Iowa, Minnesota, Northwestern and Ohio State.  Florida Atlantic is 0-7 ATS in its last seven road games, which is hard to ignore when making your NCAA basketball picks.

The Owls are led offensively by senior guard Greg Gantt, who is averaging 21.5 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.  He is second on the school’s all-time list in career points, which was helped by a 34-point performance last time out.  Freshman guard Stefan Moody provides a major lift off the bench for this squad, which isn’t surprising due to being the first Parade All-American to land at the school in its history.

Indiana bounced back after suffering its first loss of the year on Saturday, as it tallied an impressive 93-54 victory over Mount St. Mary’s as 30-point home favorites, while going OVER the total in consecutive contests.  “I was really proud of our team in the way that they responded,” stated Hoosiers head coach Tom Crean.  The Hoosiers have won 15 straight games at Assembly Hall, outscoring opponents by an average of 26.5 points.  Indiana is 5-11 ATS in its last 16 games versus a team with a losing record.

The Hoosiers lead the nation in scoring 89.2 points per game, while also pacing all teams in outscoring opponents by an average of 29.3 points.  Indiana shot 70.6 percent in its last contest, which was the fourth-best single-game shooting percentage in program history.  Junior Victor Oladipo has really come on in his last five games, averaging 16.0 points on 66.7 percent shooting.  It’s still important to point out that center Cody Zeller is still the leader offensively, averaging a team-best 15.7 points and 8.3 rebounds.

Sports bettors will likely play the total in this affair, as the OVER is 7-3 in the Hoosiers last 10 home games versus a team with a losing road record.
