Heat Celtics NBA Playoffs Game Preview
The Miami Heat have won five games in a row entering Tuesday’s contest against the Portland Trail Blazers

Portland has lost three games in a row, including a 110-104 setback to the Orlando Magic as three-point road favorites Sunday, while going OVER the total for a fifth consecutive contest.  “It is not like we can’t win the next two games and finish this trip .500,” commented Trail Blazers rookie point guard Damian Lillard.  Problem is, he may be wearing down heading into the NBA All-Star break, after being limited to a season-low four points last time out.  Portland is 4-2 ATS as road underdogs of 9.5 to 12 points the last two-plus seasons, with the OVER going 4-2 in that situation.

The Trail Blazers have won four consecutive games over the Heat in Miami, but they haven’t traveled to the area in nearly two years.  Five of the last six meetings in this series have been decided by nine or fewer points, which could make the underdog an attractive wager when looking over the NBA betting lines.  Defensively, the squad has allowed an average of 111.0 points in losing three straight.

Miami is arguably playing its best basketball of the 2012-13 pro basketball season, as it has captured five consecutive wins, including a 107-97 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers as nine-point home favorites Sunday.  The Heat have been led by the play of forward LeBron James, who has shot 71.4 percent over his last five games.  “I go out and just play my game,” stated James Monday.  The franchise is 22-3 overall at AmericanAirlines Arena, including an 11-1 mark versus Western Conference opponents.    Miami is 2-4 ATS as home favorites of 9.5 to 12 points, which can’t be ignored when making your NBA expert picks Tuesday night.

The Heat are 10-2 in their last 12 games, including a perfect 7-0 in front of their home fans during that stretch.  James combined with Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade to score 74 points versus the Lakers, which marked the 64th time they have posted at least 70 points in a single game together.

Sports bettors will likely back the Blazers due to the Heat failing to cover the spread in three consecutive games since the calendar turned to 2013.
