Heat Celtics NBA Playoffs Game 2 Preview
The Boston Celtics have covered the spread in 11 of their last 12 home games

New York has won and covered the spread in its last four games, including a 110-84 victory over the Toronto Raptors as seven-point home favorites last Saturday, while going OVER the total in its last three contests.  The Knicks are 18-16 overall on the road this season, which includes a 13-7 mark versus Eastern Conference opponents.  Forward Carmelo Anthony is averaging 28.1 points in his last eight games against the Celtics, but the franchise has won just three of those affairs.  New York is 17-14-1 ATS when playing with two days rest the last two-plus seasons, something to consider when making your NBA picks against the spread.

The Knicks haven’t won a season series versus the Boston Celtics since the 2003-04 campaign, as each side has won on the road in two previous meetings this season.  Anthony leads the NBA in first quarter scoring at 8.6 points, while sitting second among all players in averaging 27.6 points a game.  Free agent acquisition Kenyon Martin has provided the roster a spark, averaging 12.2 points and 7.2 rebounds in landing in the starting lineup the last six games.

Boston has dropped its last four games, including a 110-106 setback to the Memphis Grizzlies as 7.5-point road underdogs last Saturday, while going OVER the total in three of those four contests.  The Celtics will continue playing without the services of center Kevin Garnett, who is expected to miss another week due to a left ankle injury.  His presence in the paint is certainly missed, especially in terms of rebounding, which is important to consider when looking over the pro basketball odds page.  Boston is 26-19 ATS in March the last two-plus seasons.

The Celtics have won 11 of their last 12 home games against the Knicks, as they’ll be led by forward Paul Pierce on the offensive end.  He is averaging 27.8 points on 52.8 percent shooting in his last 13 games in this series.  Boston is 24-10 overall at the TD Garden, including a 12-7 mark versus conference rivals.

Sports bettors will likely back the Celtics due to their 11-1 ATS mark at home, while the Knicks are 2-5-1 ATS on the road versus winning home teams.
