Total: 197.5

Phoenix was finally able to capture their first win of the season after starting out 0-2. They played the lowly Hornets last night and won by 15, as six different Suns scored in double figures, paced by Hakim Warricks’ 18 points. Two time MVP Steve Nash is shooting a highly uncharacteristic 31% from the fllor and averaging only 8.8 points per game. While it’s nothing to get alarmed about yet, it is worth keeping an eye on. The Suns are clearly rebuilding and a lot of teams are going to be vying for Nash’s services as the trade deadline approaches.

Oklahoma City is doing their best to show they are contenders. They are off to a 4-0 start with victories over Orlando, Minnesota, Memphis, and a buzzer beating win over the defending champion Mavericks. Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook have fueded a little, but winning is the best remedy for all of that, and if the Thunder continue to roll through this season, any friction may be lubricated by the sweetness of victory.

Key Matchups:

Jared Dudley vs. Kevin Durant

Dudley probably is a good enough defender to shut down the likes of Paul Pierce and the second tier of NBA small forwards, but really no one does much of a job against Durant. Durant’s 6’10” length will frustrate the 6’8″ Dudley, and Durant will be able to rest on defense for the most part, leaving him fresh to demolish the Suns offensively. Really, this game could get ugly fast if Durant doesn’t take it easy on the second night of a back to back.
