The New York Yankees have won the first two games of their four-game set against the Texas Rangers

Texas has been outscored by an 11-2 margin in dropping the first two games of this series in the Bronx, including a 3-0 setback on Tuesday night.  The Rangers have demonstrated very little patience at the plate over the last five games, which has casued the club to score two or fewer runs in four of those contests.  “We were swinging at everything,” commented Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton.  Texas is 3-4 as a road underdog of +100 to +125, with the “over” going 5-2 in that situation.

Rangers starting pitcher Scott Feldman (6-7, 4.64 ERA) had his personal four-game win streak snapped in suffering a 6-2 home setback to the Detroit Tigers, allowing four runs and six hits over 5.2 frames in that effort.  The right-hander is 2-3 with a 6.50 ERA in nine road outings (six starts), surrendering just three home runs in 36 frames.  In seven career games (five starts) versus the Yankees, Feldman has registered a 3-2 record and 4.85 ERA.

New York used its ability to hit the ball out of the ballpark to capture last night’s contest, with outfielder Nick Swisher and first baseman Mark Teixeira delivering the big blows.  “Tex and I kind of turned it around, and we were able to put some runs on the board,” stated Swisher after the game.  Shortstop Derek Jeter continues to turn back the clock on top of the lineup, hitting .403 over his last 15 games, which could continue due to going 5 for 13 in his career against Feldman.  New York is 8-5 at home when the total is 10 to 10.5 this year.

Yankees starting pitcher Freddy Garcia (6-5, 4.85 ERA) has won back-to-back starts, with the offense providing him 16 runs of support in those contests.  The right-hander is 3-3 with a 5.88 ERA in 11 home games (five starts), with opposing hitters batting .324 against him.  In 22 career games versus the Rangers, Garcia has tallied an 8-5 mark and 4.10 ERA.

Sports bettors will likely play the total in this affair, with the UNDER going 3-1-1 in Feldman’s last five starts in this series.
