Dallas

Dallas sits at 21-14, which surprises me a little, but apparently not Vegas Oddsmakers, who set the odds on the Mavs winning a championship at 15/2, far worse than the team they beat in the Finals in the Miami Heat.

The Mavs have undergone some changes, to be sure. Tyson Chandler, a key portion of their great defensive attack, is out. Jason Kidd is aging. Dirk has struggled with conditioning. Caron Butler headed to the Clippers. Brendan Haywood is still underachieving. That pretty much sums things up for the Mavs.

Can they come back and win some games in the Playoffs? Sure, but I don’t see them making it out of the Conference Semis, and they will have trouble getting out of the first round if they earn a lower seed and have to face the Thunder or Spurs.

Mavs Betting Trends:

Dallas is 7-3 SU in their last 10 games and the total has gone UNDER in 5 of their last 7. The total has gone OVER In 4 of their last 6 on the road and they are 6-2 SU in their last 8 road games. The total has gone UNDER In 13 of the last 19 against the Memphis Grizzlies and the Mavs are 19-6 SU in their last 25 against the Memphis Grizzlies. The Mavs are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 against Memphis, and they are 2-4 STS in their last 6 on the road against Memphis. The total has gone UNDER in 6 of the last 9 on the road in Memphis and the Mavs are 2-4 SU in their last 6 on the road in Memphis. The Mavs are 19-6 SU in their last 25 on the road against the Grizzlies.

Memphis

After shocking the Spurs and taking the Thunder down to the wire in 7 games last year, many expected the Memphis Grizzlies to be one of the top teams in the West this year.

That never really happened. Part of it could be attributed to losing 20-10 dynamo Zach Randolph, but the Grizzlies did it last year without Rudy Gay, so the talent level should be sufficient that even without a key player, they should be better than 19-15 and 4th in their division.

Randolph is expected back soon, and was almost ready to go until he experienced some swelling in his knee. When he returns, expect Memphis to come together and make another strong playoff push. They have a lot of under rated players like Mike Conley and Tony Allen, and Rudy Gay is far better than most people seem to realize. Marc Gasol has established himself as an All-Star now, too, and has made his ascent to being a top 10 center in the NBA.

Grizzlies Betting Trends:

Memphis is 5-1 SU in their last 6 games and the total has gone OVER in 4 of their last 5 games. The total has gone UNDER in 7 of their lat 10 at home and the Grizzlies are 6-1 SU in their last 7 games at home. The total has gone UNDER in 13 of their last 19 against the Dallas Mavericks and the Grizzlies are 6-19 SU in their last 25 against The Mavs. The Grizzlies are 4-2 SU in their last 6 games against the Mavs at home and they are 5-11 ATS in their last 16 games at home against Dallas. The total has gone UNDER in 6 of the Grizzlies’ last 9 games at home against Dallas and the Grizzlies are 6-19 SU in their last 25 games at home against the Mavs.
