There’s really only one thing you need to know as to why the Magic are only 5.5 point favorites against an awful Wizards’ team: Dwight Howard is unlikely to play again. For the first time in his NBA career, Howard is missing games, and the Magic are going to need all they can get from Jameer Nelson and Ryan Anderson to win this one as Vegas oddsmakers predict they still will.

“I think obviously missing Dwight is a big piece and it just makes us have to play that much harder to get those hustle points and get those rebounds,” Anderson said. “I think we did that…We know how good of a team we are and we’ve gone through a lot as a group. I think ultimately guys, everybody’s playing hard…We’re just really having each other’s backs and working hard for each other.”

Fortunately, Anderson has played well against the Wizards this year and is averaging 23.0 points per game against them. He’s hit 13 of his 24 threes.

At least, for the Wizards, they took care of business against the pitiful Bobcats to end a five game losing streak. They won by 28 points against the woeful ‘Cats, while James Singleton and Cartier Martin combined for 37 points and 18 rebounds. Jordan Crawford also came up big, scoring 20 points in 21 minutes, solidifying his preseason claim that he is the next Jordan, while rookie teammate Jan Vesely made a solid double dogble contribution. Star point guard John Wall had 12 assists.

Magic Betting Trends:

The Magic are 30-27 ATS this season and 22-20 ATS as a favorite. They are 14-13 ATS on the road and 19-17 ATS in the second half of the season. They are 6-9 ATS following a win of 10 more more and 5-3 ATS after scoring 105 or more. They are 4-4 ATS vs teams that allow more than 99 points per game.

Wizards Betting Trends:

The Wizards are 22-34 ATS this season and 19-28 ATS as an under dog. They are 9-18 ATS at home this year and 7-10 ATS in the second night of back to backs. They are 18-23 ATS revenging a loss against an opponent. They are 5-3 ATS after scoring 105 or more.
