Western Michigan is 4-3 on the season with a 2-1 record in the MAC and will host the Ohio Bobcats in a game college football oddsmakers have set the line 9.5 points in favor of the W Michigan Broncos.

The Broncos have an effective offense, ranking 52n in the nation in scoring with 32.6 points per game. It’s been largely due to a balanced attack. The team ranks 49th in rushing with 188.1 yards per game and gets 252.6 via the pass. The Broncos are also hot as winners of its last two gams against Ball State and Bowling Green. The Ball State game was a high scoring affair with the total points scored being 80, in a 42-38 win.

QB Zach Terrell threw 20-of-29 for completion while averaging 10 yards per reception. He threw three TDs and just one interception, as the Broncos edged out Ball State in total yardage 498 to 471. The Broncos two turnovers hurt, and the team didn’t control the clock, but Jarvion Franklin had a monster game at RB. He went for 161 yards carrying the ball (6.7 yards per carry). He scored three rushing TDs and had a long run of 54 yards.

Underdogged Ohio is hoping for offensive improvement. Through its first eight games, the team has managed just 18.8 points per game while surrounding 25 to opponents. The offense really isn’t that good, and has scored 20 points or more in just three of the eight games. Last week saw the Bobcats take down Akron 23-20.

Cats QB J.D. Sprague has had middling effectiveness, throwing for 1,107 yards but with just a 48 percent completion ratio and 5.89 yards per reception. He has a 1:1 TD/INT ratio and a QB rating under 100. He’s had good success running the ball with 243 yards and three TDs, to help A.J. Ouellette in the backfield.

A.J. averages 4.6 yards per carry and has 407 yards on the season with four TDs, including a 65-yard TD run. QB Derrius Vick has been great on the ground, rushing for 193 yards in just 25 carries with a 7.7 yard per carry average. He’s No. 4 on the team in rushing yardage, behind Sprague, Oulellette and No. 2 back Daz’mond Patterson. Vick has sat out the last four gams and is questionable for this contest.
