Looking Ahead To The Weekend

Worst NFL Game of the Weekend – 2-11 Seattle at 2-11 St. Louis is quite likely the worst game of the season, and perhaps of a few seasons. Both teams have all sorts of problems, neither have anything to play for, and I can’t think of a single interesting storyline to make this one worth watching. I’m far from the only one who thinks this way – betting volume on this game is by far the lowest of any all weekend.

Best NFL Game of the Weekend – There are several to choose from as teams start to get desperate to secure a playoff spot. Tampa Bay at Atlanta is a high stakes game as both teams try to bounce back from a rough loss last week. Detroit at Indianapolis will be interesting just to see how badly the Colts can beat up on the Lions. It should be ugly. Denver at Carolina and the Giants at Dallas both matter for both teams, so they should be fun. The best, though, is Pittsburgh at Baltimore. This is an all out battle for AFC North supremacy, and it is fueled by hate.

Oddest Line
– It makes sense now, but is is very hard to believe that the Jaguars are in such rough shape that they are underdogs at home against a pretty unimpressive Packers team. What a pathetic mess the Jags are. Incidentally, Fred Taylor was put on the IR today. Is there a more fragile player in the league?

Game With Teams With The Most To Prove
– Buffalo at the Jets. All hope is gone for Buffalo, but they still need to play for their jobs and for those of their coaching staff. I expect big changes there. The Jets need to end their freefall quickly and get back in control of the AFC East race. If they don’t make the playoffs they will only have themselves to blame.

  1. The NFL should blackout the Seahawks and Rams game and make them play at their local high school football field. The most interesting game for me is the Patriots at Raiders, I want to see how Matt Cassel performs after losing his father. He reported to practice on Thursday and as far as i know will remain with the team until after the game but is he really focused?

    once again great writeup

    vinny
