Live NFL Week 1 Odds: A Look At What Has Moved and Why

NFL Week 1 Odds Have Seen Quite a Few Big Shifts in the Betting Lines
The NFL Week 1 odds have been released for a while and most of the sharp bettors have hammered these to where they should be, but does not mean there will be some movement with last-minute injuries, personnel moves.  You can view every single games point spread and total on our NFL odds page when you have finished reading this article.

San Francisco (-3) at Seattle: The Niners, who opened a one-point underdog, have been the biggest move on the board. With Seattle releasing T.J. Houshmandzadeh, there is concern about the Seahawks’ offense. The Niners have emerged as the favorite to win the division.

Atlanta (-2, 38) at Pittsburgh:The Steelers’ troubles compounded when Byron Leftwich was injured. The Falcons, which opened as a pick ‘em, have looked solid in preseason. The total has been bet down from 41, also because of the Steelers’ offensive woes and QB situation. Dennis Dixon will get the start at QB

“It’s an opportunity, I guess,” Dixon said in a report. “It’s unfortunate for Byron to go through what he went through. But this team has to continue to look forward. I know once he comes back, he’s going to get tremendous support.”

New England (-4) vs. Cincinnati: The Patriots, who were six-point favorites, have some issues on defense. The Bengals, with the addition of Terrell Owens, hopes to only get better on offense as they start building chemistry.

Tampa Bay (-3) vs. Cleveland:Here are two of the bottom feeders in the NFL. But, the Bucs have shown a bit more offense in the preseason and have had historically been a good home team.  Dont underestimate the effect a hot humid Florida afternoon will have on the Browns and some have realized this betting Tampa up from -1 on the opening line to -3

Indianapolis (- 1 ½) at Houston: The Colts, who opened a three-point road favorite, have not been impressive in the preseason. The Texans have had a history of close games with the Colts. Being home gives more incentive to back an improved Texans team.  Houston +3 was the nuts, but if you missed out on that, consider a 6 point teaser on Houston boosting them up to +7.5.  If you are looking for a side to pair with that, Baltimore +7.5 is likely the best teaser leg after Houston.

Green Bay (-3) at Philadelphia: The Packers have looked good when the first unit has played in preseason, on both offense and defense. The betting public has backed that. The Eagles are starting over with Kevin Kolb, and with the Eagles young receivers, it may take a while for the offense to come together.  We have seen this line open at Pick and be driven up to -3.
