Iowa has won three games in a row, including a 45-29 victory over the Indiana Hoosiers as 3.5-point home favorites last week, while going OVER the betting total for the first time in five contests.  The Hawkeyes have won six of their last seven games on the road, which is important to consider when making your Week 8 college football betting picks, as they prepare for their first-ever meeting against the Terrapins.  Iowa is 4-7 SU and 7-4 ATS as an underdog the last two-plus seasons, with the UNDER going 7-4 in that situation.

The Hawkeyes are allowing only 94.0 passing yards per game in Big Ten Conference games, which can’t be ignored when looking over the college football odds page.  Iowa has a major playmaker in running back Mark Weisman, who is one of eight players in school history to surpass 2,000 rushing yards and 20 career rushing touchdowns.  Wide receiver Kevonte Martin-Manley is also a player to watch, as he ranks fifth in program history with 151 career receptions.

Maryland will attempt to bounce back from a 52-24 defeat to the Ohio State Buckeyes as 6.5-point home favorites on Oct. 4, as it lost the statistical battle by 220 or more yards for the third time in four contests.  The Terrapins have scored at least 24 points in all six games during the 2014 campaign, as they come in with the fourth-highest point average among Big Ten members at 34.7.  Maryland is 2-2 SU and 0-4 ATS as home favorites of 3.5 to 7 points the last two-plus seasons, with no clear edge in terms of the betting total (2-2 Over/Under).

The Terrapins have totaled 25 plays of 20 or more yards this season, with 10 of those instances leading to a score.  Maryland’s offensive line has combined for 85 career starts, while it also has an explosive playmaker in wide receiver Stefon Diggs, who has 706 all-purpose yards through the team’s first six games.

Sports bettors will likely back the Terrapins due to the Hawkeyes being 14-17 ATS in all games since 2012.
