Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers will be making his eighth career start on ESPN’s Monday Night Football against the Seattle Seahawks

Green Bay hits the road after playing its first two games of the 2012 NFL regular season  inside Lambeau Field, as it will appear on ESPN’s Monday Night Football for the 20th straight season.  The Packers have tallied an impressive 9-3 record in prime-time games since the 2009 campaign, while winning six of the last seven meetings in this particular series.  Since head coach Mike McCarthy took over on the sidelines in 2006, the franchise has gone 10-3 in regular season games against NFC West opponents.  Green Bay is 3-1 ATS after a two-game homestand the last two-plus seasons.

The Packers have won 10 of their last 11 road games, while also posting a league-best 8-2 record in September games away from Lambeau Field under McCarthy’s direction.  Quarterback Aaron Rodgers will be making his eighth career start in this prime-time event, throwing for 1,899 yards and 15 touchdowns with eight interceptions.  Green Bay has averaged 28.1 points per game in Rodgers’ 64 career regular-season starts, which ranks first in the league since 1950.

Seattle evened its record through two weeks with a 27-7 victory over the Dallas Cowboys as three-point home underdogs last week, as its managed to win the statistical battle in each contest.  The Seahawks used their punishing running attack inside CenturyLink Field, finishing with 182 yards on the ground, with 122 coming from leading runner Marshawn Lynch.  There’s no doubt that the team should win this particular battle, considering tonight’s opponent ranked 27th in the league in rushing in 2011.  Seattle is 9-4 ATS as a home underdog over the last two-plus seasons, something to consider when looking at the pro football odds.

The Seahawks shouldn’t change their ball control style in this affair, with the Packers allowing 140 rushing yards per game and 5.1 yards per carry.  Seattle is 17-8 in its 25 previous appearances on Monday Night Football, which is actually the NFL’s best winning percentage on the broadcast.  Lynch has rushed for 100-plus yards in six consecutive home games.

Sports bettors will likely take a look at the total in this NFC contest, as the OVER is 3-0-1 in the last four meetings.
