The L.A. Clippers welcomed Chris Paul back into the fold in Game 4, and it also routed the Houston Rockets 128-95 to take a 3-1 lead in the Best of Seven series. Early NBA live lines showed the Clippers as 3.5 point favorites on the road in Game 5. The Moneyline on the underdog Rockets is +130, while the total is set at 219 for the game. The teams combined for 223 points in Game 4, and for an explanation on what this means with regard to betting see our NBA odds explained.

Though Paul came back in Game 4, he did face minutes restrictions, seeing just 26 minutes in the game. Even so, he hit 4 of 9 from the floor, including 3 of 4 from three-point range, while dishing out 12 assists to go with his 15 points, finishing with a plus-28 mark while on the court. Blake Griffin still helped alleviate some of the playmaking with his three assists and 21 points, but having Paul back in the fold gave the Clips its primary ball handler back.

DeAndre Jordan was the biggest beneficiary, though his 14 of 34 free throw mark is emblematic of the issues facing a Jordan based offense. He was 6 of 7 from the floor and had 17 rebounds (four offensive) as the Clips held a plus-6 advantage on the glass.

J.J. Redick also continued his hot shooting. He is hitting 58 percent from the floor in the postseason and connected on 5 of 10 while hitting four triples. Redick’s shooting is essentially to keep the floor spaced and give Griffin room to operate in the high post. Griffin has grown considerably as a player and leader, and took tips from Tim Duncan to help achieve that end. The Clips put all starters in double-figures except Matt Barnes, whose contributions emotionally and energy wise supplant his 2 of 8 shooting and still leave the mark of a guy who belongs on a contending team.

The Clippers bench produced 41 points in Game 4, with Austin Rivers and Jamal Crawford having combined to shoot 9 of 19 from the floor and each having hit a pair of three-pointers. The Clippers shot 49 percent from the floor and 41 percent (13 of 31) from three. It also assisted 27 times on 39 field goals, which perfectly illustrates the efficiency of the offense given that it assisted on over two-thirds of its field goals. The Clippers had 22 fast break points and held the fast-paced Rockets to 17. Part of that was due to the fact that the Clippers came up with 14 steals/blocks while the Rockets had just seven.
