The Florida State Seminoles have won all 17 meetings against the Duke Blue Devils

Duke’s 6-2 start matches the school’s third-best eight-game start since the inception of the ACC in 1953, as the team comes off an exciting 33-30 win over the North Carolina Tar Heels as 10.5-point home underdogs.  The Blue Devils have also managed to go OVER the total in four consecutive games.  Pulling off a victory in this sport is unlikely, considering the program hasn’t won on the road against a nationally-ranked foe since 1971.  Duke is 3-0 ATS when the total is between 56.5 and 63 this year.

The Blue Devils have lost all 17 previous meetings against Saturday’s opponent, including a 41-16 setback as 11.5-point home underdogs last year, while the last two meetings have gone UNDER the total.  Duke certainly has an opportunity to score the upset if leading after three quarters, posting a 17-2 mark in that situation under head coach David Cutcliffe.  Offensively, the team is averaging 35.0 points per game, which would rank as the highest in school history.

Florida State is set to play its Homecoming game at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee, as the team became bowl eligible for the 31st consecutive year after a 33-20 win over the Miami Hurricanes last week.  Quarterback EJ Manuel has been incredibly efficient this year, completing 71.5 percent of his passes, while throwing for 2,033 yards and 14 touchdowns.  Florida State is 0-3 ATS when playing a team with a winning record this season, with the UNDER going 2-1 in those contests.

The Seminoles have scored at least 44 points against the Blue Devils in 14 of the 17 previous meetings, eclipsing the 50-point mark nine times.  Florida State is the only team in the country to rank in the top 10 of nine statistical categories nationally.  The running game is the key factor to this team dominating opponents, ranking first in college football by averaging 6.15 yards per carry, as they’ve already gone past last year’s total of 1,458 yards (1,855).

Sports bettors will likely back the Blue Devils due to their 12-3-1 ATS mark in October, while the Seminoles are 0-4 ATS following a straight-up win.
